ABBY EMSLEY
Spanish and International Health, B.S.
Clemson University May 2025
My name is Abby Emsley, and I am currently a senior at Clemson University, majoring in Spanish and International Health with a minor in Cluster Life Sciences. I am on track to graduate in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduation, I plan to spend a gap year gaining clinical experience before pursuing medical school and becoming a doctor. My studies have allowed me to develop linguistic and cultural proficiency through language courses, while also deepening my understanding of health through coursework in life sciences, behavioral and social health, epidemiology, health evaluation methods, and health communications. Over the course of my academic journey, I have built skills in cultural humility, integrity, determination, leadership, and a broad understanding of health-related topics that I will carry into my future career. Both the language and health component of my studies has prepared me to pursue my passion of becoming a physician. In fact, it has even shaped my perspective of healthcare, and I am prepared to go into the field not only mastering scientific concepts but also understanding the importance of humanities in the field.
