Literature Review: Analysis and Evaluation of the Healthcare System in Guatemala
In this literature review, I examine and assess Guatemala's healthcare system. The analysis section provides an overview of the system, highlighting reforms, the decentralization of management, and the economic aspects of healthcare delivery. After addressing these foundational elements, I evaluate the system's performance by focusing on key indicators such as quality, coverage, efficacy, efficiency, technical efficiency, and equity. This paper was one of the most significant challenges of my college career, requiring me to navigate and comprehend scientific, peer-reviewed journals in a foreign language. The dedication and effort invested in producing this professional paper made the final outcome especially rewarding. This paper not only helped me enhance my professional writing and research skills, but it also deepened my understanding of the complexities of healthcare systems and the various ways to assess their success.
Literature Review: Social Determinants of Health associated with Lung Cancer Rates among Hispanics in the United States

In this literature review, I examine the social determinants of health that influence lung cancer rates within Hispanic communities in the United States. Using a socioecological framework, I organize these determinants according to Bronfenbrenner’s ecological model, addressing factors from the macrosystem level—such as cultural beliefs and insurance policies—to microsystem influences, like family dynamics and religion. After exploring how these social determinants impact lung cancer rates among Hispanics, I provide evidence-based recommendations for interventions and programs that have proven effective in addressing these issues. Overall, this paper enhanced my understanding of health disparities faced by minorities in the U.S., highlighting the strong link between social factors and health outcomes. This knowledge will help me become a more informed physician, enabling me to recognize and address non-medical barriers in patients' lives that may be contributing to their health challenges.
